We want to honor Judge Sally Shushan for her commitment and dedication as a mentor with Each One Save One. Currently in her second year, Judge Shushan is currently mentoring/tutoring Karlisia, a tenth grade student at Rabouin High School. Their primary focus has been on history tutoring. When asked to help with tutoring, Judge Shushan initial response of “where is your book?” didn’t seem like a strange question. But as she soon learned the online class and materials was a new experience for her and her mentee. They have both adjusted and great progress has been reported in Karlisia’s grades. Prior to volunteering at Rabouin High School, Judge Shushan tutored students at Sylvanie Williams High School.

Judge Shushan has been a judge for 10 years. Prior to that she was an attorney for 18 years and credits a senior partner as an influential mentor to her. She decided to become a mentor because so many kids need a little extra help. When asked about encouraging others to become a mentor she replied “It is the right thing to do and a good way to give back to the community.” As Judge Shushan says “a little progress is better than nothing”.
